Our Story
In September of 1990, David and Gerri Trotter opened up Trotter's Floral in Gladstone at the 117 N 9th St location. At that time it was just a renovated garage. It was Gerri's dream to open a flower shop. She ran the shop with the help of her family until her untimely death in 1995 - from there, her daughter, Debbie took over day to day operations.
Together, Debbie and Dave, with the help of a small staff, established the family shop as a well-known local florist, known for their quality products and excellent service. David built an addition onto the original location and continued to upgrade the building to accommodate the growing business. In 2018, they purchased the current building, formerly Tom's Service Station. Over that next summer, at the age of 72, David renovated the old service station to be the new home to the family flower shop.
In 2019, shortly after the new location opened, Debbie's son, Jesse was brought on to replace longtime employee Paula Sagataw, who moved on after nearly 25 years at Trotter's. Over the years he's learned the business/craft, and he's become part owner, and he co-manages the shop with his mom. David still helps around holidays and with behind-the-scenes stuff, but together, it's still proudly family owned and operated.
